November 2nd

I promise not to half-ass any too many of my posts this month as I tackle the NaBloPoMo challenge, but I can’t make any promises about blog titles. Just sayin’.

I also started my first NaNoWriMo last night, aaaaaand ended up writing less than a THIRD as much as I’d told myself I would. Not quite the shot out of the gate I was looking for. It was more of a stumbling, drunken falling off the gate as I was trying to climb out.

If you’re not familiar with the plan, the goal is to write every day in November ending up with 50,000 words by the 30th. It averages out to 1667 words per day. So yeah, I’m not quite on pace to start.

I only look like this on Thursdays though, so I think I’ll be okay for most of the month, I may have to light a bigger fire though, time will tell.

I didn’t really plan on doing this until last week. I’d told myself I wasn’t going to do it this year, that I had too much going on already, but then a blogger/writer friend gave me some encouragement and I talked myself into it. I’m not going to name names because I may end up *blaming* that person rather than thanking them 😉

Thinking a blog post every day isn’t going to be tough? Think again. 50k words for a novel I don’t even know yet? Whew, even tougher, but I’ll see this thing through. Enjoy the ride!

  1. Wishing you the best, too. I may never “win,” but I’m gonna keep trying. I can say that because it’s only my second year. But … you can do it, you can do it! Just throwing out some mutual support there.

Kidding aside, I wish you luck!

    • Thanks, Katy! Nice job on your 1st day total btw. I’m not sure I’ll win either, but I know I’ll write every day. I think my NaNo page said my estimated finish date based on yesterday’s word count was Feb 2013 😉

  2. I did it last year. I can’t imagine doing it this year, I just don’t have the time I need to dedicate to it. I managed to finish my 50k words last year but am still actively working on that novel. I like the idea of NaNoWriMo to get the creative juices flowing but didn’t find that it resulted in a novel that was really any good. lol. Enjoy the ride.
